Maryann M. McEwan, age 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. Born in Manhattan, NY she lived in the Madison Park section of Old Bridge for 73 years. Maryann dedicated 30 years as an elementary school teacher at Irwin Elementary School in East Brunswick before retiring in 2012.

She was an accomplished scholar, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree and later a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Kean University. She had a love for reading and traveling, with some of her favorite destinations including California, Hawaii, and Ireland.

She had a deep affection for all animals (especially Schnauzers). She took great pride in researching her Irish and Scottish roots and was particularly fascinated by the history of the McEwan name. She cherished her time at Bass River, where she spent time with her family, creating memories that stayed with her throughout her life.

She is predeceased by her parents Malcolm & Catherine McEwan, her brothers Kenneth "Kenny" McEwan of Silverton, NJ and Malcolm "Rusty" McEwan of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, and niece Jenny McEwan of Silverton, NJ. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Joyce McEwan (Wife of Kenneth McEwan) and Lynn Marie McEwan (Wife of Rusty McEwan), nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, friends and neighbors, and her beloved Schnauzer, Fiona Clare.

A funeral Mass will be offered for Maryann at St. Bernadette RC Church in Parlin at a later date. Letters of condolence to the family, complete arrangements, and directions may be found by visiting www.spezzifuneralhome.com.
