MaryAnn E. Zernicke, age 92, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday April 23, 2024, in Shawano, Wisconsin. MaryAnn was born on September 23, 1931, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin to the late Edgar and Nelda (Whimler) Blanke. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1950. On June 7, 1952, MaryAnn was united in marriage to Dale Dordel. The couple spent 15 wonderful years together before Dale's passing in 1967. After Dale's passing, she met Harvey Zernicke and on December 2, 1973, the couple got married at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, Wisconsin. They spent 26 wonderful years together before Harvey's passing in 2000. MaryAnn loved reading and worked as a librarian for many years. She had a passion for music and enjoyed playing piano, organ and the accordion. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, gardening, and watching old black and white movies. Family was everything to MaryAnn and she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and hosting family gatherings. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
MaryAnn is survived by her sons, Kevin (Sandy) Dordel, William (Isabel) Zernicke, Brian (Debbie) Zernicke and Todd Zernicke; grandchildren, Chad Dordel, Jason (Breiley) Dordel, Ryan (Kaelynn) Dordel, Dylan (Brittney) Zernicke and Stacey (Matt) Williams; great-grandchildren, Noah, Milo, Ollie, Gabe, Brookelynn, Bryson, Autymn, Leighannah and Waylon; and sister, JoAnn Barkow. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
MaryAnn is preceded in death by her brother, Ray (Marilyn) Blanke and parents, Edgar and Nelda.
A funeral service for MaryAnn will be held at 11:00 am on Monday April 29, 2024, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be held at Forest Cemetery in Birnamwood, Wisconsin.
