Marye McIntyre Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Trout Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Tonkawa on Sep. 8, 2025.
It is with deep sadness and a profound gratitude for her 97 years of life, we announce the passing of longtime Tonkawa, Oklahoma resident, Marye Lou McIntyre on Sept 5, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Tonkawa, 505 Thunderbird Rd, Tonkawa, OK 74653.

Marye Lou McIntyre was born in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, on March 30, 1928, to Floyd ( Pete) and Neva Dorsett. She attended Tonkawa Public Schools, Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and obtained her Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University, Dallas Texas, in 1950. She was a member of Delta Gamma social sorority.

She married Hubert Lee McIntyre on August 18, 1951, at the United Methodist Church in Tonkawa, OK. They moved to Wichita, Kansas where Hubert worked in management for Boeing Aircraft.

In November of 1954, Pete Dorsett extended an opportunity to join him in the grocery business and they happily returned to Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Dorsett's IGA was truly a local business, serving the local community in many ways. They ran the business until their retirement in 1996, when son John and his wife Debbie assumed ownership of the business.

Marye Lou was a quiet, warm and compassionate person. She was always concerned with her family's needs ahead of her own. She walked among us with a grace that spoke volumes without uttering a word. In her presence, there was a soothing tranquility, a comforting embrace that enveloped all who came into her life. Her words, though soft-spoken, carried the weight of wisdom, offering solace in times of turmoil and guidance in moments of uncertainty. Through hardship and prosperity, she stood with resilience, never losing her compassion or sense of humor. Her hands, once busy with the work of raising a family, now rest with well-earned dignity, having touched countless lives with kindness.

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Tonkawa and Chapter S, PEO Sisterhood.

She was preceded in death by her caring parents, Floyd (Pete) and Neva Dorsett and beloved husband, of 64 years, Hubert.

Our family wishes to acknowledge her special care givers Ann Crawford, Detra James and the staff at Epworth Villa, Oklahoma City, OK, for their love and compassion shown to our mother, during her seven years there. We so appreciate their kindness and patience.

Surviving family members are sons, Jim and wife, LeeAnn of Edmond, OK and John and wife, Debbie of Tonkawa, OK. Grandchildren Jillian McIntyre Conaghan and husband Brian of Yukon, OK., Steven McIntyre of Oklahoma City, OK, Lauren McIntyre Stuart and husband Ross of Oklahoma City, OK and Jay McIntyre and wife Tiffany of Stillwater, OK. Great grandchildren Elizabeth Stuart and Palmer Stuart of Oklahoma City, OK. and Wren McIntyre of Stillwater, OK. Nieces Linda Stahl and husband Dan of Bixby, OK., Jody Smith Ponca City, OK. and nephew Mike Haddican and wife Mary of Tulsa, OK.
