Dear John,
I was so saddened to hear of Maryellen´s passing. I received your note and wanted to respond but now cannot find it anywhere. After some internet searching I found this web page and I am hoping you will see my post. I cannot thank you enough for reaching out and letting me know. Maryellen was a dear friend and neighbor who supported and cared for me during the most difficult days of my life. She was a lovely, selfless, brilliant woman who cared deeply for her family and friends. I will never forget the kindness you both showed our family. Her infectious smile brightened every room she entered. I am so so sorry for your loss.

We are doing well in California...both the kids have successful careers and are newly engaged to long time partners (2 weddings in 2027!). I´ve added our Christmas card photo - thought it might make you smile (especially Michael´s beard - can you believe it?). I have a long time partner, Jim, whom I met on the east coast before leaving VA. He lived in MD (worked at NSA) but retired to Montana. We travel back and forth between our two houses. Michael is in San Diego and Sarah in LA - so they are close.

I hope this finds you and your family well. Thanks again for reaching out - it really means a lot.
