Maryellen "Nanni" Ryan

Maryellen Amabile Ryan, 72 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at Epic Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, New York on December 20, 2025. She was born on April 26, 1953 in New York City to the late Marie and Arthur Amabile. Maryellen was predeceased by her sister Alida Maria Amabile. She married the great love of her life John D. Ryan on July 29, 1978. For the past twenty years, Maryellen dedicated her life to teaching and was a Professor of Economics at Northern Virginia Community College and also Westchester Community College.

Maryellen is survived by her husband John, her deeply loved children, her daughter, Christine Ryan Elstein (Josh), and her son, Andrew John Ryan. She was the beloved 'Nanni' to her three grandchildren Jade Alida, Hunter, and Emme.

Maryellen was a woman of great faith, generosity, and devotion to her family and friends. She lived a life of dignity and strength, always prioritizing the well being of others. She leaves a legacy of love and kindness to all of those who knew and loved her.

Family will receive friends at Fred H. McGrath & Son, Inc. Funeral Home at 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, New York 10708 on Sunday December 28, 2025 from 2pm-5pm. The funeral mass will be held Monday, December 29th, 2025 at 10:45am at St. Joseph's Church at 15 Cedar Street, Bronxville, New York 10708. Final prayers follow at Ferncliff Cemetery at 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale, New York 10530.
