BIOGRAPHY OF MASOKA NAULEMWABO
BIRTH: Masoka was born in Kananda Fizi, South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo
(Zaire) on January 01, 1947, into the clan of Bashing'endo, the family of Bashibucuma.
PARENTS: Her father was named Daudi Abekyamwale from the clan of Bashing'endo, and
her mother, Reza Mwaliasha, of the Babungwe clan. She was born fourth of nine children.
Currently, three of the nine children are alive, and their names are Masoka Bwi-seelelo,
Elena Ichundo, and Minyore Bartelemi.
EDUCATION: In 1953, Masoka started primary school in Kananda at the age of 6. She was
unable to continue her education initially but resumed her studies at the age of 54. She
enrolled in a traditional midwifery training institution on July 25, 2001, and subsequently
obtained certification.
MARRIAGE: Masoka was married to a young man, Malango Lubango Amos, of the clan
Bashibakela, from Bashimkwanyimba house, who lived in Bashikalangwa Tingitingi,
Yabula Village. She gave birth to 9 children: 3 boys and 6 girls. 6 are alive; 1 male, 5
females – 38 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In
total, Masoka left behind a family of 56 that are alive.
RELIGION: Masoka was a born-again Christian. In her home country, she was a member
of Free Methodist Church, later she join the Holy International Pentecostal Church and here
in San Antonio Texas she was a member of Mission City Church.
WORK: In her life, she helped her family by weaving clothes. Additionally, from 2001-2004,
she worked as a midwife in Lugufu camp, Kigoma Tanzania, and from 2006-2012, in
Tongogara, Manicaland, Zimbabwe. On October 17, 2012, she arrived here in San Antonio,
Texas, USA, with her 3 children.
