Mason's Obituary

Mason Wayne Dicus, 21, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away on November 8, 2025. He was born on August 10, 2004, in Sioux Falls, SD to Patrick Wayne Dicus and the late Stephanie Jo Hoefert.

Mason was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew him. He was charismatic, empathetic, sensitive, and deeply compassionate. His smile could light up a room, and his quiet, contagious laugh brought joy to everyone around him.

He found peace and purpose in the simple things — skateboarding through the city, spending time in nature, caring for animals, listening to music, playing video games, and helping others whenever he could. Mason’s kindness, humor, and genuine heart left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is lovingly remembered by his father, Patrick (Jessica) Dicus; his siblings, Haden (Josie) Dicus, Aubri (Jenni) Dicus, Logan Thompson, and Harper Dicus; as well as his step-siblings, Gabriel Egan-Oines and Kali Johnson. Mason is also survived by his grandparents, Rob and Linda Dicus, and Dale (Sharon) Hoefert, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who loved him deeply.

Mason shared an unbreakable bond with his closest friends, who were more like brothers to him: Tio Skyberg, Andrew Khan, Jose Nuno, Kaeden Jacobson, Korbin Miller, Dominic Borth, Devante, Sam Galicias, Carter Trautman, Archie Jaqaus, and Kobe Pfannes. Their friendship meant the world to him.

Mason is now joyfully reunited in heaven with his beloved mother, Stephanie Jo Hoefert; his grandmother, Kimberly Barkley Hoefert; his beloved uncle, Cory Dicus; his aunt, Colleen Nieto; and his great-grandmother, Bonnie Dicus.

A visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 4800 S. Minnesota Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57108. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Mason’s life, his laughter, and the love he shared so freely.

Mason’s warmth, humor, and compassion will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
