Mason "Wayne" Lykins, age 51, passed away surrounded by family, on September 11, 2022, after a brief battle with multiple myeloma, a type of incurable bone marrow cancer. Wayne was born January 18, 1971, to Gary and Joan Lykins.
He was a very devoted husband to his wife and best friend of 21 years, Danette Lykins, who he met in high school. They found each other again and began dating in July 1997. Wayne and Danette were the true definition of soulmates.
Wayne was an amazing father to his three stepchildren, Jaren Tilley (31), Dylan Lykins (28), and Jessica Lykins (25), who he took on as his own when they were very young. Along with a recent addition to the family, his first grandson, William "Liam" Lykins (1½). He also has a daughter from a previous marriage, Cailin Lykins (29), who he was sad he never got to meet as an adult.
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping, 4-wheeling, and anything to do with exploring the great outdoors. He was a great "teacher" and mentor to anyone who would listen.
His first career was carpentry, and later moved up to construction superintendent.
His hobbies also included rebuilding Suzuki Samurai's and Chevy Trackers, computers, playing video games, and researching anything and everything on the internet. He loved to learn new things.
He loved his family and was always putting their needs before his own.
Wayne is preceded in death by his mom, Joan Lykins, and his dad, Gary Lykins. He is survived by his sisters, Tracy (Lykins) Anderson, of Tacoma, and Morgan (Lykins) Blackburn, of Yakima.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for all friends and family. A Private Service will be held in the mountains next spring.
In addition, if you wish to make a monetary contribution, in lieu of gifts or flowers, we humbly ask that you contribute to the funeral and celebration of life fund https://bit.ly/3QfVnz9.
