Mateo Martinez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Colonial Funeral Home - Dimmitt on Mar. 18, 2026.
Mateo Pedroza Martinez, 74, of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Celebrant David Contreras officiating.
Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas. Viewing will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 2:00 – 7:00 PM with vigil and rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born on September 21, 1951, in Mexico, Mateo Pedroza Martinez was the son of Dario and Luz (Martinez) Pedroza. In 1978, he met and married Ana Lilia Neri, the love of his life, and together they built a beautiful family.
Mateo made Dimmitt, Texas, his home in 1995. Throughout most of his adult life, Mateo was self-employed, dedicating himself to remodeling homes and businesses. Later, he earned his CDL license and spent some time driving a truck.
Although Mateo was known for his private nature, he found joy in simple pleasures. He enjoyed working in his yard, watching soccer, savoring good food, and relaxing with his cigarettes. Mateo's quiet personality and presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Ana Lilia Pedroza of Dimmitt, Texas; his children, Michael Pedroza and his wife Cindy of Dimmitt, Sergio Pedroza and his wife Sandra of Phoenix, Arizona, and Michelle Pedroza of Dimmitt; 7 grandchildren, Destinee Oltivero, Anyssa Pedroza, Santiago Chavez, Sebastian Chavez, Annalicia Pedroza, Karen Pedroza and Yogi, his cat grandson; 3 great-grandchildren Rylee Marquez, Kynlee Marquez and Kaiden Marquez.
Mateo is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
