Matilda Mae "Sally" Stedman Lipford

Matilda Mae “Sally” Stedman Lipford, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Hopewell, VA on Monday, April 21, 2025. She was born in Petersburg, VA on May 12, 1947. Sally was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Horace R. Lipford, and her daughter, Michelle Dawn Williams Lipford.

Sally worked for DCI for over 20 years as a machine operator. She had a deep passion for playing Bingo, especially at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Petersburg, VA, where she played every Wednesday and Friday evening.

She is survived by her children; her son, Michael R. Lipford (Trena) of Colonial Heights, VA; her daughters, Tracy Barfield of Hopewell, VA, Ruth Layton (David) of Dewitt, VA, Debra Duesberry (Jimmy) of Petersburg, VA, and Elaina Williams (Kenneth) of Chesterfield, VA; brother, Mack Stedman of Chester, VA; grandchildren, Patience, Courtney, Matthew, Angel, Abigail, Joshua, Noah, Brandy, Cody, Shanon, Taylor, Rainey, Morghan, Steeler, Eric, and Cody Ray; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends.

A graveside service in Blandford Cemetery will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
