Matthew Eli Bateman

Matthew Eli Bateman, 25, a resident of Wilson, found his eternal resting place with the Lord on Friday, August 15, 2025. Visitation will be on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Rock Church and World Ministries, 20810 Plank Rd., Zachary, LA 70791 from 9:30 am until service time at 12:00 noon conducted by Bro. Rocky Bezet and Bro. Donald Hartung. A 2:30 pm graveside service will follow at Stevens Cemetery, 16269 Copperhead Rd., Tickfaw, LA 70466. Matthew is survived by his wife of 3 years, Rachel Melancon Bateman, parents, Dan R. and Lisa S. Bateman of Wilson, sister, Rachel Sumrall of Franklinton, brothers, Ouachita Bateman of Pride and Ethan Bateman of Wilson, niece, nephew and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rufus and Audrey Bateman and maternal grandparents, Gilbert and Amy Stevens and cousin, David Stevens. Pallbearers will be Ross Melancon, Julie Melancon Chase, Andy Chase, Jason Profitt, Tanner Beneke, and Drew Moon.

Matthew proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as an IT Specialist where he found joy in his work assisting others, working with computer technologies, and studying advanced cyber security. He loved exploring the outdoors including fly fishing, target shooting, and hiking. Matthew loved his pets, Grace, Pepper, and Leo. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife. He was a trustworthy and caring friend and brother to many. With a generous heart, he went out of his way to selflessly serve others. Matthew touched many lives with his kind words and actions, and he will be missed dearly.
