Matthew Beck

LIMA -- Matthew "Matt" R. Beck, 44, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 5:52 a.m., at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Matt was born on October 5, 1981, in Hanover, West Germany, to the late Richard "Rick" Beck and Valerie "Val" (Rump) J. Beck, who survives in Lima, Ohio.

Matt graduated from Lima Senior High School in 2000. He loved football and enjoyed cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and the New Orleans Saints. Matt loved working at the stables and helping with his moms horses, where he was a tremendous help cleaning the stalls. He was an animal lover and was often known to tuck a cat inside his coat during subzero temperatures.

Matt was meticulous in everything he did. While tasks sometimes took him extra time, he always completed them with care and pride. He had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to his own garden, where he grew a variety of vegetables. Matt had a generous heart and would do anything for anyone in their time of need. He faced struggles with mental illness, yet remained strong and worked diligently to complete daily tasks without letting it define him.

Survivors include his mother, Valerie "Val" (Rump) J. Beck of Lima, Ohio; grandmothers, Linda (Cummings) Rump of New Bremen, Ohio, and Rosalyn (Eschmeyer) Black of Naples, Florida; brother, Richard Beck Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Christina Ewing of Mechanicsburg, Virginia; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert "Red" Rump.

Inurnment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.
