It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend Joseph Jacob Beck III who passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, in Morris Il. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Joe was born on April 29, 1979, in
Kankakee, Il to Janet Menz and Joseph Beck Jr. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet, and his brother Leo. Joey and Leo shared an incredibly close bond.
He is survived by his loving family: the love of his life and wife of 20 years, Amanda (Capsel), whom he married in Gatlinburg, Tenn on November 25, 2005 his beloved children, Joseph Jacob IV, Caydence Irene, Evenlynne Gene, and Jacob Bo; his father Joseph (Patricia) Beck Jr, and his siblings April, PJ, Richard, and Carly. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends.
Kind, gentle, loyal, and loving are words used again and again to describe Joe. He was as generous to strangers as he was to those closest to him. He was known for his selflessness, and would, without hesitation, give his last dollar or the shirt off his back to anyone in need, no questions asked. A naturalist, creative soul, and free spirit he loved being outdoors-walking anywhere and everywhere. In a world increasingly focused on electronics, he preferred real connections with nature and people. His kindness extended beyond people-he was a devoted animal lover, especially his best friend Eris, his mini Australian shepherd he thought was the prettiest dog in town and his many cats. He was always willing to help any creature in need.
Joe was a gifted artist who passed that talent down to his oldest daughter and could create beautiful works from simple paper and basic crayons. He loved sharing his talent and gladly taught anyone who wanted to learn. He was also a hard worker who followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, spending many years as a part of local 17 Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers. Over the years he had a variety of construction and maintenance jobs throughout the Chicagoland area. Most recently he spent the last 8 years working with dear friends that became family at Carsons Tap House in Morris. Joe lived a short, but full, life centered on love, creativity, and connection. He treasured time with his family and brought brightness and laughter to our best days and steady loyalty and genuine love to our hardest ones.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring, with details to be shared with family and friends at a later date.
Joey's spirit, generosity, and gentle heart will remain with us always. Though he is gone from our sight, the love he gave so freely and the lives he touched so deeply will never be forgotten.
