Matthew J. Blood, 49, of Canton, passed away on March 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of family.
Matt lived life the only way he knew how — at full speed.
He was full of energy, full of fun, and full of life. If Matt walked into a room, you knew it. He loved to laugh, loved to prank people, and loved to make memories with the people around him.
Matt didn’t believe in doing things halfway, and those who knew him best would tell you he experienced life with his whole heart.
Matt was a proud father to his son, Lukas, who meant the world to him. He was the beloved son of Ernie and Melody Blood, and the brother of Jonathan (Tiffany) and Brandon (Aubrey). He was also a fun-loving uncle to his nieces Gabby, Evie, and Ellie, and nephews Alex and Will, who brought him great joy.
Matt shared a special bond with Holly Bowers, who was by his side when he passed.
Those who loved Matt know that his story was not always a straight line. He lived boldly, sometimes imperfectly, but always authentically.
Matt’s family will remember the laughter he brought into a room, the stories he told, and the way he lived life in the fast lane.
Though his time here was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will stay with his family forever.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Aultman Hospital for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided during Matt’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in support of the Aultman ICU. Gifts may be mailed to 2600 Sixth St. SW, Canton, OH 44710, or made online at aultmanfoundation.org. Please note gifts are in memory of Matthew Blood so they are designated for the ICU.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Paquelet Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place at 5:00pm.
