Matt, Matt, Matt..... So many things i want to say. First - just want to send out my thoughts and prayers to his family. Matt was one of a kind; that smile, that laugh, his love for others. He always put others before himself. There are so many things i will miss about him, so i will just say i miss everything about you. You brought so much to my life that i will be forever grateful. So many great memories, one of my favorites is; when we first started to get to know each other you invited me to go golfing. Which i was totally up for. So i show up at Fossil Trace and go in to pay and they tell me its already been paid for (something you always did). I meet you out by the carts and we get ready to head out. I couldn't help but notice that you were wearing softball cleats. I was like what the hell are you wearing? You just laughed (oh that infectious laugh) and said these are my spikes. Man I'm going to miss you. I will never forget our last phone conversation (the week before you left us). The things we talked about i will always hold close to my heart. Over the last couple years when we would end a phone call, you would say "I love you John" and i would say "I love you too man". So here's one last "I LOVE YOU TOO MAN"

Matt- I am so sad to hear the news of your passing. I have lots of memories from Junior High, and then after your wedding where my husband took your photos. You were always so kind to me in school, and always so funny. I have a picture of you doing a funny pose in one of the circle windows at Pecos. My prayers are with your family, and with Holly who I was friends with from elementary to adulthood. You will be missed.

Im so glad I had the opportunity to call Matt a friend. Every time I saw him he brought me up with his smile and I know he cared about how I was doing. I dont know if he realized how much his positive attitude impacted the friends and colleagues in our industry. I hope so, and I know I will remember it always. I will try to do better to emulate that selfless approach myself. I will miss you, Matt!

Matt, My wonderful friend and band mate. From the first time we had lunch together in 2010 when I was going through some hard times, you were an ear and person I knew I connected with. When we realized we both loved Iron Maiden and also country music and that we both played guitar, I knew it was going to be an even more special friendship. We formed Red Whiskey Blue with your passion and direction bringing together my other special friends, Patrick, Zach and Conor. We played some amazing shows, worked up some great original material, of note Outlaw Trail inspired by your wonderful Mother Linda's book, Looking for Redfeather. Your passion for music, being tight and having fun was contagious. Your voice and fun yet calm spirit will always live in my heart. I always have a fond memory in my mind of the last time I saw you, playing music together at the IMEG open house. Every time I play a tune, I'll think of you and remember you for what a great friend you are to me. I pray that God will rest your soul and I look forward to seeing you again when we can jam together in heaven. I love you brother! 'Merica!!!

As some people journey through life,
they leave footprints wherever they go...
footprints of kindness and love, courage
and compassion, humor, music and
inspiration, joy and faith.
Even when they are gone, we can still look
back and clearly see the trail they left behind.
Matt was one of the most genuine and
caring individuals I have ever met. He
touched the lives of so many.
His presence in this world will be deeply
missed but the footprints he left will be
forever on our hearts.

We first met Matt when he was in the fourth grade. He went to school with my son. I had the pleasure of watching them grow and build a great friendship. Matt was a good kid and grew into a good man. He was funny, smart, creative; I will always cherish the time we had. He was family. We surely will miss him.

My heart aches. I will always cherish the little trinkets you would leave for me and my Dominoes! Who can forget playing dominoes after our holiday party! We always had the best times! Thank you for our heartfelt conversations and inviting me to watch your band play. Were going to miss you everyday, at volleyball, miss you answering my phone and chatting with my Gma, and I miss your smile. Until we meet again my sweet friend.

I still remember the first email I got from Matt and I remember thinking, "Who is this guy?! He seems really fun!" And he was. He was also one of the most heartfelt people I've ever known, always willing to help a friend. I miss you, Matt. I hope you know how much you were loved by us all.

Matt, you welcomed me when I ventured into the A/E/C world here in Denver. You did it the only way you knew... with a smile, a hug and honesty.
You cheered for me numerous times, always finding a way to make people feel special.
We made each other laugh and built good memories everytime we got together.
I will miss calling you to see what is up, watching you play with the band (you know I was the first one on the dance floor for.you) and definitely will miss your smile.
Until we see each other again my friend, I will not forget you.

Redgate golf won't be same without you my friend. I will toast you a Makers/rocks next time I play that crappy course. I will never regret our meeting and our exhaustion of the SMPS drama at PLS. We didn't fit the clique and we knew it and we couldn't have cared less. Well I did, but you made me come around. I will miss you. I will get the tattoo. I promise.

Matt - My friend, you will be missed so very much. You had such a huge heart and always knew how to bring a smile to peoples faces. I was lucky enough to have you as a co-worker and a cube mate. You introduced me to so many people through SMPS and AIA conferences. Everyone would always come up to me and ask ... Wheres Matt... he is amazing! My heart goes out to your family as I hope you all may find peace in time. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Matt - you will be missed every single day. Rest In Peace my dear friend.

Matt welcomed me into the SMPS fold when I first arrived in Denver. Always genuine, always helping, always someone I could catch up in an instant if a few months went by between seeing each other. A bright light that will be deeply missed. My heart goes out to Matt's family and loved ones.

Matt was kind, genuine, and generous with his time. I will think of him often, and I will miss him until that beautiful day when we meet again, and he greets me with a smile and a hug, as he always did. This one's for you, Matt:

Matt was the kind of person you see randomly in a parking lot and he didn't hesitate to give you a hug and catch up right there on the spot. His infectious laugh made going to lunch a treat. He will be missed by so many.

My prayers go out to Matt's family and friends. I knew Matt through the work. He always made me feel right at home when we bumped in to each other at networking events. It felt as though we knew each other for many years. Matt gave us the gift of laughter. He was a genuine soul that will be missed by many.

Matt is one of my oldest and most trusted friends. We met almost 16 years ago and that evening the Group of Matts was conceived. We were young, brash and ready to take over the industry. A lot of time has passed since then and weve shared many an adventure. His smile and infectious laughter could pull you away from any troubles. He was always available to everyone he met and he connected so many of us asking nothing in return. We will miss you our dear friend and compatriot.

Thank you for taking me under your wing when I was new to the industry and being the most heartfelt, genuine, random, funny, and loving person Ive ever met. I have so many memories Ill hold onto from surprising me with your step mothers painting I fell in love with at her art show to play dates with Paco and Xenia while you crafted with me, and more importantly the times we walked broadway looking for vintage T-shirts. I love you boss man and Im ever so thankful for the light you brought to my life. Like I told you back In the day.....youre stuck with me for life..... youll always be with me.

I met Matt nearly eight years ago, working with him for a few weeks before I moved onto another company. I saw him off and on throughout the years at his company events. In 2016 when I ventured back into the engineering world, he sent the President of my company an email. Sheila is a rock star and youre lucky to have her. Wow I thought and told my husband about it, that Matt had gone out of his way to send a kind email about me, to set me up for success and yet I still barely felt like I knew him. But that seems to sum it up best. Any interaction I had with Matt, he always made me feel like we had been friends forever. I was touched by his natural ability to raise others up.
I went on to photograph Matts band on a Halloween evening with the rest of his Motley Crue a few year ago. There was just something about Matt when you were around him. He always made you feel like you were the only person in the room and that you were his best friend, a trait that always left me feeling a little better about myself when I spent time with him. He had an infectious smile and manner about him. I saw him a few weeks ago at an industry event. Although we only spoke for a moment, he was his usual charming self and, in that instant, he did what he always did best put aside whatever was going on in his life and made you feel like you were the only person in the room.
My heart aches and my soul is grieving. The world will be a little less bright without Matts light shining.

There would be weeks where Matt and I would only communicate through song lyrics via text message, so my sentiments of losing one of my best friends could only be summed up that way.
"Like the wings stolen from an angel
Like petals gone from a rose
Like a dove caught in a storm
Tonight he is in the Lord's arms."
I will love and miss you forever Capt Campbell. Until we meet again...

When I first arrived to Colorado in 2014 Mat was the president of SMPS. He was someone I looked up to. He always made time to share advice with anyone regardless of their title or role. He was a mentor to many and a giver. His philosophy was "help everyone you can no matter what it". We call that the SMPS way but Matt LIVED this philosophy. Over the years as I grew in my career I became closer to Matt and I learned he was not only this way at work and with people in the industry but also with his friends. Matt, the industry loves you. SMPS loves you. Your company loves you. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED. Thank you for everything you ever did for all of the above. YOU ALWAYS WILL BE A MENTOR. The world lost a rock star - at work and in life. You will be missed.
