MATTHEW CULP Obituary

MATTHEW G. CULP Matthew G. Culp, age 44, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 15, 2024. Matthew was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 27, 1979, to Steven and Linda (Renegar) Culp. Matthew attended St. Joseph grade school and was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School where he participated in football, basketball and track. Matthew pursued his undergraduate education at Truman State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing, and was a student athlete throwing the shotput and hammer for the track team. Matt made many friends and enjoyed his time as a member of the sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. Later he earned his Master's in Business Administration from Baker University. For twenty years, Matthew has worked successfully in the financial industry as a mutual fund wholesaler and later as a financial planner. Some career highlights included receiving the Ivy Funds Award of Excellence Award in 2012, the Ivy Funds Masters Council Award in 2012-2013, Mass Mutual Ascend Achievement Award in 2022 and 2023, and the 2023 Reader's Choice Best of the Year Award for Regional Missouri Financial Planning. Most recently, Matt owned and operated Regional Missouri Financial Planning serving northcentral Missouri and Kansas City. Matt met his wife Mandie in the summer of 2009, and they were married on June 9, 2012. They enjoyed many concerts and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. Their union was blessed with two children, Clark Joseph and Logan James. Matthew loved going to festivals and traveling with family. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting and playing arcade games with his boys. Matt was never at a loss for words as he loved socializing, talking with others, and telling stories and jokes. Anyone who knew Matt felt the warmth of his personality and quick wit. His humor and ability to humanize any situation was a gift. Matt blessed so many people with genuine connection, friendship, community, and unwavering generosity and support. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Steven Culp, and father-in-law Stan Hartwich and his grandparents Calvin and Donna Renegar and George and Viola Culp.
