Matthew Nathaniel Edwards

Matthew Nathaniel Edwards, 20, passed away on July 12, 2025. He was born in Raleigh, NC, on November 2, 2004, to Christopher Nathaniel Edwards and Maria Liliana Jimenez Lopez. Matthew was a 2023 graduate of East Wake High School and joined the US Army, where he was active duty at Fort Bragg, NC as a 91L (Construction Engineer Repairer), with the 307th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 82nd Airborne.
Matthew is survived by his parents: Christopher Nathaniel Edwards and Maria Liliana Jimenez-Lopez; brothers: Aldayr Jimenez and Mason Edwards; grandparents: Richard Nathaniel Edwards and Eileen T. Edwards, and Victoria Jimenez Lopez; great-grandmother, Barbara Lopez Moreno; uncle: David Jimenez (Alma Hernandez); aunts: Alma Laura Munoz Jimenez, Mayeli Munoz Jimenez (Jesus Antonio Galeote); cousins: David, Richard, and Dana Jimenez Hernandez, Aitana and Fernando Sanchez Munoz, Jesus and Victoria Antonio Munoz; as well as his extended family, countless friends and his military family.
A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 am, Sunday, July 20, 2025, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.
