He is survived by his mother, Denise Louise Fletcher, his brother, Nathan Robert Fletcher, his nephew, Riley Ballance Fletcher, Jane Mudgett Fletcher, and his partner, Carlos Alejandro Rodriguez. Matthew is predeceased by his father, Robert Dean Fletcher, his grandparents: Dorothy and William Fletcher, and George and Anita Hamel. Matthew also leaves behind countless loving cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends wherever he went.
Matt's lust for life led him on many adventures. After attending Plymouth State College's Theatre Program, Matt traveled extensively, touring the country and living in Boulder, Colorado. Matt then accomplished a lifelong dream of living in New York City, living his best life as an actor, star of a one-man show at the historic Stonewall, and dog-walker extraordinaire. Matthew was a pillar of Christopher Street.
Matt ultimately returned to the place where his heart lives, the lakes and mountains of New Hampshire. Matt intentionally spent his life surrounded by family and lifelong friends, enjoying his life camping, celebrating the beauty of life, and taking his friends out on Squam Lake, because he was, after all, the best boat captain ever.
Matthew's Celebration of Life will be on October 18, 2025, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Roads End Farm in North Sandwich, NH. All are welcome, and feather boas are encouraged. Feel free to let your freak out, and make Matt proud! Please send your memories of Matthew to [email protected].

We knew and loved Matt from when he was a small child. I will never forget the day when he and his brother Nate were at our place to play with Ian. It had been raining a lot at the time and in the process of the usual horse play, Matt executed a spectacular face plant in a huge mud puddle. I ran toward him expecting the worst and wondering what on earth I would say to Denise but just then Matt popped up, dripping muddy water from head to teeth to toe, grinning from eat to ear. I should have known then he´d be an actor. It was pure theatre. This was the same group, it must be said, that persuaded each other that it would be a good idea to pee on the electric fence. Not the brightest moment of their lives. We love you, Matt.

I am just heartbroken to lose our wonderful Matt. He was a bright light in my life. I first met Matt as a young classmate of Rachel's; he was charming and fun-filled through all his school years, delighting us with his on-stage antics and friendly, welcoming personality. Later on, Matt SAVED MY LIFE when we worked together at the Corner House..I was completely over my head trying to enter orders electronically and keep up with the work...Matt was forever there with a quip, a smile, and very real help. My heart just aches for our whole community; we have lost an irreplaceable spirit. And my heart is breaking for all his family. Please know we are all sending love!
