Douglas L Popoloski passed away on November 5, 2025, in Cape Coral, FL. He was born in Woburn, MA on October 16, 1946. He was the son of albert and Ann Macneil Popoloski. He graduated from Woburn High class of 1965. Doug was married to his high school sweetheart Elaine Souza in June of 1968. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in June of this year.
He started working at Polaroid Corp as an automated equipment Mechanic. He was on the draft list, so he decided to join the Navy for 4 years. During that time, he worked on the flight deck as a mechanic on 2 aircraft carriers. He also was in Viet Nam.
After returning home we settled in Woburn. We had two boys, Jason and Scott and became a family. He had the opportunity to join the family lumber and hardware store in New Hampshire where he helped manage for 31 years. We had so many great memories of living in New Hampshire on the lake, boating up and down the lake every chance we had. His favorite was fishing; he always had the fishing rod on the boat ready to go.
Doug was predeceased in death by his three brothers, Paul Popoloski of Woburn, David Popoloski of Franklin, Ma, Albert Popoloski of Gilmanton, NH and a sister Claire Fortin of Tamworth, NH and granddaughter Everly Hope Popoloski of Maine.
He is survived by his wife Elaine (Souza) Popoloski of North Fort Myers, FL his son Jason Popoloski and his wife Candace of North Reading, MA. His son Scott Popoloski and his girlfriend Katherine Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland. His sister Ann Skehan and her husband James of Effingham, NH. Sister-in-law Kathy Popoloski of Milford, MA. Sister-in-law Cindy and husband Jack O'Connor of Nashua, NH. Sister-in-law Judy and husband David Dec of North Adams, MA. Brother-in-law Joseph and wife Janet Souza of Wilmington, MA. Also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
His dream was always to get out of the cold winters and move to Florida. He lived in a great community for 8 years. Doug was loved by everyone he met, even if only for a brief time. He would always say "living the dream". His son Jason wrote a poem that he loved, it's called "old man".
The wrinkles in his face are like waves in a wild wind
The eyes so sorry like an infant's eyes
His legs so wobbly like a worm on an autumn day
His smile so warm like a fire in the woods
But now in the distance he leaves this world and now he is one with the world
So bye for now, old man
Celebration of Life is planned for the spring of 2026 in Grant Hill Cemetery located in Center Ossipee, NH.
