Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lord Funeral Home - Wolfeboro on Nov. 11, 2025.
Jefferson Shayne Lovering of Mirror Lake passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side, on October 26, 2025, at the age of 48. He courageously battled glioblastoma for the past 14 months. Throughout his treatment and care, Shayne displayed the same strength, dignity, and positive, loving spirit that endeared him to so many. His life, and the impact he had on all who knew him, is a testament to that spirit.
Shayne was born March 14, 1977 to Jonathan and Patricia (Gallagher) Lovering. He graduated from Kingswood Regional High School in 1996, and began his secondary education at the Thompson School of Applied Science at UNH. His many classes in the Agriculture program in high school, where he was a proud member of the FFA, helped prepare him for success.
Shayne graduated from UNH in 1998 with an Associate's Degree as a Forest Technician. While there he took many elective courses in Arboriculture where he learned not only how to manage forests but also to foster a greater appreciation for trees and promote the research, technology and practice of professional arboriculture. He continued to work for Chuck Haughey of Haughey Logging over those next two years, putting his new skills to work and focusing mostly on the tree care industry.
He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Adult and Occupational Education (certification to teach agriculture at the high school level). He completed his student teaching at Dover High School. While there he taught courses in Forestry, Landscaping and Animal Science and graduated Magna Cum Laude from UNH in May of 2001.
In August of 2001, while on what ended up being a three-month-long cross-country road trip, Shayne proposed to Karin, his high school sweetheart, at the Sequoia National Park. Karin and Shayne were married two years later in Melvin Village on Lake Winnipesaukee. They welcomed their first daughter, Jaylin, into the world in 2007 and then their second, Ellory, in 2010.
In the spring of 2002 Shayne started his own company, Lovering Tree Care, which he owned and operated for 23 years. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching his employees and customers his love for the outdoors and his knowledge and concern for our trees and environment. Shayne always strived to continue his education in all aspects of his business, awarding him much respect and loyalty from his customers.
Shayne always loved giving back to his community, whether it was physically or financially. He led by example, by calmly teaching, supporting and caring for others. He will always be remembered for being patient, kind and giving. He was a gentle, quiet mentor to so many.
Shayne loved all kinds of music, and any activity he could involve it in, he did. Modifying any car or home system to make sure it could carry some bass and be loud was of utmost importance. He was lucky to see many different bands at all kinds of venues over the years.
Alas, the need for speed was REAL. One of his favorite lines that will always be remembered was "Drive Fast, Take Chances." In the early years that meant ATVs and dirt bikes, then boats, jet skis and snowmobiles. He took that to the next level when he joined Club Motorsports and added a Mustang, Cadillac Blackwing, and two race bikes to the fleet of fun! He had just obtained his Level 1 certificate to instruct new drivers and had dreamed of becoming an instructor there for years to come. He loved the additional family of friends who deeply cared for him there.
Shayne was always ready for a good time and to help anyone with anything. One of his greatest joys was watching and supporting his girls in anything they wanted to do. The answer was always "yes" to play a game, throw a ball, water skiing and tubing, building a snow fort/sledding hill, help with homework, studying and more. His selflessness is a legacy that will live on in his memory.
Shayne is pre-deceased by his grandparents Jeff and Joan Lovering, Bob and Nancy Gallagher and his Uncle Mike Gallagher. He leaves his loving wife Karin and amazing daughters Jaylin and Ellory, his parents Pat and Jon, and his brother Sethan of Utah. There are a multitude of Lovering and Gallagher aunts, uncles and cousins who love and will miss him greatly. He also leaves his in-laws Brad and Ann Swain, sisters-in-law Kristin Upchurch (Charles) and Kerri Foley (Derek), nieces and nephews Devlyn, Blake, Skyler and Camden. Also left behind is a vast, loving, family of friends.
Family meant everything to him and he will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Visitation will be held at Back Bay Boathouse in Wolfeboro, Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at a later date this Spring.
