Matthew Grigsby Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium on Dec. 9, 2025.
Matthew "Matt" Keltner Grigsby, age 54, of Georgetown, Texas, born on June 24, 1971, in San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025.

Matt grew up in Houston, Texas, and graduated from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory School and was a proud Red Radars alumnus of Texas Tech University. Upon graduation, he pursued his passion in the movie industry. He will be fondly remembered by a wide network of friends and colleagues made over a career spanning more than three decades across thirty-nine titles in movies and television. Inspired by his childhood love of movies like Star Wars and the scores of his musical hero, John Williams, Matt worked his way from small beginnings in Texas as a Production Assistant to Financial Controller on some of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters; overseeing the massive budgets of franchises such as The Divergent Series and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Matt was known for his depth of experience, kind leadership, and nurturing mentorship and will be greatly missed by those he worked with.

When he wasn't working, Matt was an avid gardener, finding solace and happiness with his hands in the dirt in his organic garden and greenhouse. His favorite tasks were planting tomatoes and other vegetables, as well as propagating and growing fig trees. His bountiful harvest was a testament to his love of gardening. If he wasn't in the garden, you could find him in his kitchen making salsa, cooking his favorite spicy dish, or grilling salmon on his Green Egg.

When visiting Matt, you were always warmly greeted with an endearing smile and embraced with a solid "Matt hug". He was known to make spontaneous phone calls to his family and friends that lasted hours, sometimes well into the night. He loved to entertain, had a jovial personality, and an infectious laugh. Matt had a fierce loyalty to his family, friends, and staff, and encouraged everyone around him.

Matt is preceded in death by his adoptive mother, Juanita H. Grigsby, and adoptive father James K. Grigsby. He is survived by his second adoptive mother, Carolyn B. Grigsby, his sisters Katie Hunter, Carla Dworaczyk and husband Dennis Dworaczyk, and his brother, Clark Grigsby and wife Darin Grigsby, 5 nieces, and 2 nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors in the ICU unit at St. David's Hospital in Georgetown, whose compassion, strength, and patience brought comfort during a difficult time.

"It's hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember, you'll live on forever in our hearts."
