Matthew Heaton

Matthew Heaton Sr., age 70, of Crosby, Texas, passed away on March 25, 2026.

Matthew was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who lived life with warmth, generosity, and a spirit that made everyone feel welcome. He never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel like they had known him forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cynde Heaton; his son, Matthew Heaton Jr. and wife Fina; and his stepdaughter, Heather Skeen and husband James. He was a proud grandfather to Hayden, Marshall, Gracie, Tripp, and Baby Austin, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Julie Strange and Charles Heaton. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Celestine Heaton, and his brother, Bill Heaton.

Matthew retired from KBR, where he worked as the Manager of Reprographics. He was a hardworking and dependable man who took pride in providing for his family.

He loved the simple joys in life-road trips, saltwater fishing, and time spent outdoors. He especially loved trips to Disney, where he never missed The Enchanted Tiki Room and always made time for a cinnamon roll at Gaston's Tavern. Goofy was his favorite, which suited him perfectly.

Matthew enjoyed cooking and was known for his barbecue, deviled eggs, and shrimp pasta salad-meals that brought family and friends together. He had a talent for gardening, especially growing tomatoes, and took pride in making his yard something beautiful. Whether fixing something around the house or helping someone in need, he was always willing to lend a hand.

He will be remembered for his loyalty, his protective nature, his generous heart, and the way he showed up for the people he loved.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Matthew's life on April 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Indian Shores Community Center, 1202 Indian Shores Rd., Crosby, Texas. Light refreshments will be served.
