Matthew Jacobs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Inc. on Jan. 21, 2026.
Matthew Martin Jacobs Jr., known affectionately as Mark by his friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 18, 2026, at his home in Hartly, Delaware. Born on October 15, 1958, in New Jersey, Mark's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his work, and his passions.

Mark job at A-Del lead him to discovered his talent for mechanics-a skill that would define his career and many of his personal pursuits. He was a gifted mechanic, known for his ability to fix anything that came his way. His hands were rarely clean, not because he didn't care for tidiness, but because he was always in the midst of a project, dedicated to solving problems.

Beyond his work, Mark was a man of many interests. His garden was his pride and joy, a testament to his patience and creativity. He found solace and joy in tending to his plants, and his garden was a lush oasis that reflected the care he put into every aspect of his life. Mark's love for Christmas was known to all; he reveled in the magic of the season, decorating his home with a joy that was infectious and bringing his family together in celebration.

Mark is survived by a loving family who will miss him dearly: his brothers, David, Tony, and Ray Jacobs; his children, Matthew Jacobs III, Jamie Jacobs, and Christopher Jacobs; his grandchildren Kendal Jacobs and Luke Jacobs. Each of them carries a piece of Mark's spirit, his lessons, and his love-a legacy that will continue to live on.

As we say goodbye to Mark, we celebrate a life well-lived, and his memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share and the lives he touched. Mark's passing is a reminder to us all to live fully, and work passionately, just as he did. Rest in peace, Matthew Martin Jacobs Jr.; your journey was a testament a life filled with purpose and heart.
