Matthew W. Koren passed away on February 19, 2025. Matt grew up in Huntington, NY, where he graduated high school in 1967. After graduating from Cornell University with a Bachelor's and Master's in Engineering Physics, he worked as a patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office from 1973 to 1991 where he handled patent applications in the optical testing area. Matt then worked as a patent agent for Metrologic Instruments and Honeywell until he retired. Although very modest and an introvert by nature, Matt was always helpful to those who came to him for his expertise in computers or for help in patent procedure, usually with a dose of his excellent sense of humor. He enjoyed classical music and was a computer hobbyist since the early days of the microcomputer - a charter member of the Crystal City Computer Club. Matt was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 10 at 2:00 PM at Har Nebo Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA.
Donations can be made in Matt's memory to the Female Hebrew Benevolent Society on their website, or the Jewish Family and Children's Services of Greater Philadelphia on their website.
