Matthew B. Lander

Matthew B. Lander, age 33, of Wilmington, DE passed away on June 19th, 2024. Born in Newark, DE, he was the son of Pamela (Jarrell) Panansewicz and Joseph Lander. Matt graduated from Christiana High School and spent time working as a butcher's apprentice at Shop Rite. Matt loved spending time in Ocean City, MD with his family. He enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and cooking in his free time. He was an avid gamer and made many friends in the gaming community over the years. Matt was incredibly generous and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Matt was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Mary Lander; his maternal grandmother, Patricia Jarrell; and his paternal uncles, Ben Lander, Kevin Lander, and Thomas Baxter. He is survived by his parents, Joseph Lander and Pamela and John Panansewicz; his siblings, Ashley Vega and Joshua Slattery; his maternal grandfather, Dennis Jarrell; his maternal aunts and uncles, David and Kim Jarrell and Mike and Cindy Jarrell; his paternal aunts and uncles Jim Lander, Kathleen Baxter, and Theresa and John Duffy. Matt loved being an uncle and adored his nieces and nephews: Giovanni Mazara, Alliana Vega, Alanna Slattery, and Kaelynn Slattery.
A visitation will be held at Mealey Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 from 5 P.M to 6 P.M. with a memorial service to begin at 6 P.M on Wednesday June 26, 2024. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Leukemia Foundation.
