Adrian De Jong Obituary
Adrian was born in Wilmington, Delaware, the son of the late Mary (Van Veen) and Adrian A. J. De Jong. Adrian graduated from Brandywine High School in 1971. After high school, he went on to get his associate's degree from Delaware Technical Community College. Adrian worked for the majority of his life as a bridge/road inspector for the various Construction Consultants.
Adrian's life was marked by kindness, resilience and unwavering faith. He had a passion for swimming, baseball and football. Adrian was a deeply loving husband, son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was an active member of Atonement Church, the Brandywine YMCA, and several professional organizations. He volunteered as a youth softball coach, assistant basketball & volleyball coach, and Math teacher at Urban Promise.
In addition to his parents, Adrian is pre-deceased by his son Ryan De Jong and a brother, Edward De Jong. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen De Jong; his daughter Sarah Eggleston (Charlie) and two granddaughters Ryann and Jordan. He is also survived by two sisters, Joanne De Jong (Samuel Cattlett) and Terry Lynch (Mark) along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE at 10A.M. where friends may visit starting at 9A.M. burial to follow at Cathedral Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
