Matthew “Matt” Grove, 47, of Fargo, ND, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, in his home.
Matthew Guy Grove was born February 10, 1978, the son of David and Mary (Riess) Grove in Conroe, TX. He was raised in Topeka, KS, and graduated from Cair Paravel Latin School in 1996. Following his graduation from high school, he attended Kansas State University before earning a degree in Business Administration from Friends University.
Matt began his professional career working as the production manager of Copies on Time in Topeka. It was there he met his future wife, Emily Taylor, and the couple married on July 24, 2004. Matt would later discover his calling to work in IT. After obtaining his certifications, he ultimately took the role of Systems Administrator for Kansas Health Solutions. He later served as the IT Manager for General Equipment and Supplies, where he was employed at the time of his passing.
Matthew shared a close bond with his brother, Dan, which remained strong throughout their lives. Dan can remember annoying Matt in the morning while in high school by crawling in his bed and commenting on the “odor”. He also remembered trying to avoid spiderwebs while dirt biking through Dornwood Park in Topeka at breakneck speeds. Even today, Matt and Dan enjoyed time together cruising automotive lots and exploring the latest models.
An avid car enthusiast from an early age, Matthew collected Matchbox cars and still maintained a keen interest in automotive design and technology. His love for the mountains blossomed during his time at Bear Trap Ranch in Colorado and he cherished the beauty of the Black Hills in South Dakota and Colorado mountains throughout his life.
Above all, Matt took great pride in being a father. He cherished his daughter, Jenny, and relished their time together. Whether it was playing Minecraft, shooting and enjoying the outdoors at the Sheyenne Grasslands or teaching her how to drive. Those moments meant so much to Matt.
Matt is survived by his wife, Emily, Fargo; daughter, Jennifer “Jenny”; mother, Mary Grove, Fargo; and brother, Daniel Grove, Hutchinson, MN.
He was preceded in death by his father, David.
A Gathering of Family and Friends for Matt will begin at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, followed by and Celebration of His Life at 11:00 AM, in Bethel Church, Fargo.
