Matthew P. Mullen, a loving husband and devoted father, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 64.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Kathy; his children Sean (Mauri) and Patrick; and his siblings Mary Jo Lesch, Kathleen (Michael) Ryan, Marge (Bill) Markert, Joseph Mullen, Patrick (Catherine) Mullen, Maureen (Ed) Waltman, Rosemary (Ron) Zillmer, Teri (Gregg) Nelson, Timothy (Suzanne) Mullen, and Michael (Pamela) Mullen; and his brother-in-law Walter (Terri) Hawkins. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and family friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Mullen; his in-laws, Walter and Fran Hawkins; his brother MAJ James Mullen, USAF; his sister Colleen Peppard; brothers-in-law Philip Lesch and Roger Young; sisters-in-law Jane Mullen and Mary Anne Mullen; and nephew William Markert Jr.

Born and raised in Minnetonka, Minnesota on July 11, 1961, Matt was the youngest of thirteen children. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame '83 through the Navy ROTC program and went on to serve his country as a Surface Warfare Officer, being honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander.

Throughout his life, he lived in San Diego, Denver, and Appleton, WI, before making his home in Delafield where he spent the last 29 years. Matt was happiest surrounded by family, on the golf course, or cheering on his beloved Fighting Irish. He was an avid traveler with some of his favorite trips being Ireland, Japan, England, and Hawaii. His sense of humor was contagious, and his storytelling could fill a room with laughter. Most of all, he was generous with his time, his talents, and his love-always putting family first.

Visitation will be held at St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church, W280N2101 Prospect Ave, Pewaukee, WI 53072, on Friday, September 26, 2025, 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Burial with Military Honors to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, 300 Prospect Avenue, Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Luncheon after the burial will be held back at St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church.

Matt will be remembered for his generous spirit, his great sense of humor, and above all, his love for his family. He gave his all to his country, his loved ones, and his Catholic faith.
