Matthew Charles Perenchio

November 11, 1978 - September 14, 2025

Of Norwalk, Wis. Matthew C. Perenchio died Sept. 14, 2025, at home after suffering a heart attack. He was 46.

Matt was born November 11, 1978, in West Allis, the son of Charles and Marie (Baum) Perenchio. He graduated from Bruce High School in 1997 and UW-River Falls in 2001. Matt had a successful journalism career, winning the Wisconsin Newspaper Association's Weekly Newspaper of the Year award while leading the Prescott Journal, Coulee News and Jackson County Chronicle. He also won numerous individual accolades. The Chronicle is where Matt met his future wife, Cassie Colson, who shared his passion for weekly journalism. He will be will be dearly missed as a loving and talented man who left us far too soon.

Matt is survived by his wife, father, sister, maternal grandmother, father-in-law and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother in 2023.

The family is deeply grateful to the first responders who worked diligently to try to save Matt's life.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 20, with a 9 to 11 a.m. visitation and service to follow at Blanchard Hall in Blanchardville. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy, American Heart Association or the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Saether Funeral Service is assisting the family.
