Salitsky, Matthew J., age 50, of Newton, NJ, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ, following a brief illness and surrounded by his loving children. Born in Livingston, NJ, Matthew grew up in Dover and Mine Hill, NJ. Matthew lived in Sussex County, NJ, since 2002, residing in Newton for the past nine years.
A graduate of the Dover High School class of 1994, Matthew was fond of bowling in his younger days, which is how he met his wife twenty-five years ago. He was presently employed at the Rubber Fab warehouse in Sparta, NJ, where he operated the etching machine. Matthew was a Sci-Fi fan who enjoyed video gaming and watching Fox News, the Food Network, and any series about hunting for treasures. A devoted family man, Matthew spent as much time chatting with his loved ones as he could, cared for an ever-growing menagerie of rescue pets with few of his own choosing, and tended his daughter's plant collection.
Matthew was predeceased by his father John Salitsky. Survivors include his beloved wife of twenty-one years Amanda J. (née Holme) Salitsky, his son Justin Poliey and his partner Sarah Calderone, his daughters Jessica Marino, Baylee and her husband Brett Armstrong, and Isabelle Salitsky and her partner Patrick Knight. Also surviving are his loving mother Lilly (née Fredericks) Salitsky, his brother John and his wife Amy Salitsky, his cherished granddaughter Ryan Ophelia Marino, his nephews and nieces, Brett, John and Ryan Salitsky, Christopher and his wife Megan Vulcz, Matthew and his wife Vicky Vulcz, Heather and her husband Cain Leahy, Cory and his wife Chloe Maguire, and Shawn and his wife Samantha Maguire, as well as his five great-nieces and -nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matthew's memory to a favorite animal rescue or shelter charity of choice. Private arrangements and online condolences through www.iliff-ruggierofuneralhome.com.
