Matthew George Schmidt, a beloved bee keeper and devoted family man, passed away on February 24, 2026, at AdventHealth Orlando. He was born on September 9, 1942, in Winter, South Dakota, and spent the past thirty years living in Lake Wales after moving from Georgia.
Matthew cherished his passion for bee keeping, a pursuit that brought him joy and fulfillment throughout his life. He found happiness not only in his work but also in spending time with his family, who were his pride and joy.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Martha Schmidt. Matthew is also survived by his two sons, Glenn Brooks and his wife Monica of Auburndale, and Alen Schmidt of Nevada. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren, who will always hold fond memories of their time with him.
Matthew was preceded in death by his child, Lori, and his brother, Jeff Schmidt.
