Matthew Schultz, age 13 of North Canton, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. He was born in Canton on August 28, 2011. Matthew attended North Canton Middle School. He is survived by his loving parents Daniel and Jennifer (Meier) Schultz; sister Sophia Schultz; and grandparents Marg and Mike Rideout, Rev. David and Lynne Schultz, and Jim and Angela Meier; great-grandmother Joanne Dixon; along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
Matthew brought a lifetime's worth of joy to those who knew him. He was a bright light full of curiosity, laughter, and love. He was always quick with a smile and a kind word. To his friends he was loyal, funny, and kind. The type of friend you made for life.
Matthew was active in his church community, and ninja. He had a passion for Star Wars, Legos, and wolves. He also loved playing video games with his friends. You could always find him enjoying his favorite snack in the world, fruit snacks.
Matthew overcame many obstacles in his short life. He was born with a congenital heart defect, and went through numerous surgeries. He never stopped fighting to get stronger. Through all of this he kept his spirits up and always made others feel better.
Matthew's absence leaves a hole that cannot be filled, but his spirit and the love he gave so freely will live on in everyone he touched.
Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Christ the Servant Parish at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, and a luncheon at Haymaker's Mill 1875.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Sophie Bowl (sophiebowl.org), Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital or Akron Children's Hospital. (Please scroll down for links.)
