Matthew Shaw Obituary

Matthew Ryan Shaw, age 28, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2025, in Goffstown, NH, surrounded by his loving family and his girlfriend Allison, after a courageous 14-month battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.

Matthew confronted his cancer treatment with incredible strength and bravery, contributing significantly to research through his participation in a GBM-Agile clinical trial directed by his care team at Mass General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Manchester, NH, on January 9, 1997, to his loving parents, Anthony (Tony) and Kristin (Hill) Shaw, Matthew graduated from Goffstown High School in 2015. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Stonehill College in 2019, graduating Magna Cum Laude. During his time at Stonehill, Matthew made a lasting impression as a member of the Track & Field team, where he ran middle distance and formed friendships that would last throughout his life.

He went on to earn a Master's in Accounting from Northeastern University in December 2019 and passed all four parts of the CPA exam on his first try - something his parents always proudly shared. From the time he graduated, Matthew worked at PwC in Boston, MA where he was respected for his intelligence, leadership, and quiet work ethic. Even after he had to step away from work due to illness, his colleagues continued to support him with extraordinary care, generosity, and kindness - a tribute to how deeply he was valued by those he worked with.

Matt was a proud fan of the West Brom soccer team and the Buffalo Bills. He loved watching all sports, many times rooting for the underdog. He also enjoyed rewatching The Office, reading, playing golf, and spending time with the people he loved most, especially his girlfriend Allison.

In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by his brother Connor and his girlfriend Beth Castantini; his beloved grandmother, Maria Shaw; his aunts and uncles Richard (Patty) Shaw, Jr., Karen (Alcide) Clement, Margaret Campion, James (Marsha) Hill and many loving cousins and wonderful friends. He is also survived by his girlfriend of four years, Allison Taylor, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Matthew was predeceased by his grandparents, Richard Shaw, Sr., and James and Gertrude Hill, and an uncle, Gerard Campion.

Matthew will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his quiet strength, dry wit, and the deep love he gave to those around him. He faced life - and illness - with courage, humility, and a remarkable sense of humor. He was fiercely loyal, endlessly thoughtful, and never needed the spotlight to make an impact. His memory will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St. in Manchester, NH from 4pm to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10 am, at St. Lawrence Church, 1 East Union St. in Goffstown. Burial will be privately held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford, NH, at a later date.

Matthew's family would like to thank his team at Mass General Hospital, and his hospice team at Compassus for the compassionate care provided during the last weeks of his life.

So very, very sorry for your loss of Matthew. I did not know him, however, my Stepson died of brain cancer as well, after having it 4 times between the age of 6 and 42, when he passed. I can only imagine the strength that Matthew had for the fight he went through, seeing his career accomplishments! His Family is so proud of him and will always remember his strength and lifetime goals! R. I. P.
