Mr. Matthew Monroe Walston

Matthew Monroe Walston, age 46, of Hatfield, Arkansas, passed away on July 8, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born on June 9, 1979, in Mena, Arkansas, to Monroe (Moe) Walston and Tiny Sue Campbell.
Matthew was a 1997 graduate of Mena High School and dedicated 25 years of service to Rich Mountain Electric Cooperative. He was a hardworking man who found great pride in his career and in providing for his family.
He married the love of his life, Heather Hellam Walston, and together they built a beautiful life. He was a devoted father to Claire Elizabeth Walston and Ryan Matthew Walston. Matthew was an avid sports fan-especially of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Philadelphia Eagles-and he enjoyed hunting and spending quality time with his family. He was a member of Zafra Christian Church and a faithful, loving servant of the Lord, known for his quiet strength, humility, and unwavering faith.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Heather Walston; daughter, Claire Walston; son, Ryan Walston; parents, Moe Walston, Tiny Campbell, and Kevin Campbell; brother, Tim Walston; sister, Ayla Perkins and her husband Rusty Perkins; and one niece, Campbell Kate Perkins; and a host of extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marion and Maybell Walston, and Grandmother Louetta Fairless.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Hatfield First Baptist Church with Kent Perkins officiating. The burial will follow at Shady Cemetery under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas. The Pallbearers are Adam Elliott, Cory Thompson, Brent Grogan, John Grogan, Russell Gibbons, Jonathan Foster, Brad House, Kurtis Walston, Lance Wright, and Clancey Fairless. Honorary Pallbearers are Jock Owens, David Elliott, Greg Cathey, Trent Henry, and Mark Hunter. Flowers may be sent to Beasley-Wood Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shady Cemetery Fund at the Union Bank of Mena.
