Matthew Wilbert

Matthew R. Wilbert,a lso known as Matt or Matty, born in Burlington, VT on April 16th, 1985. He departed this earthly life in his home located in Essex, VT on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 at the age of 37.
Matt attended Burlington High School and Burlington Technical Center. Just like his father, Matt had a love for cars, repairing and tinkering with anything mechanical. He was so diverse and knowledgeable in his field that he had careers ranging from aviation, automotive mechanic, to technician. Matt was a hard worker and took pride in everything he did.
He had the biggest and purest of hearts. People often use the term "a heart of gold" when referring to him. He would do anything for anyone, a true friend to everyone he met. Matt was reliable, artistic, smart, outgoing, and funny- a comedian. He had a soul and personality like no other. He had a love for the comics, Disney, DC, and Marvel movies. Actually, he loved almost every movie he had ever seen. When not watching movies, he was listening to music.
He loved to be in the company of everyone. He had a deep love for his family, his children, his friends, and his cats.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Arlene "Joann" Wilbert, his Aunt Rosemary and Uncle Timothy Irish. He is survived by his Father Rick Wilbert, his mother Susan Wilbert, his sister Jess Wilbert and her fiancé Douglas King, his daughter Natalie Robbins-Wilbert, and his son Axel. He said his greatest joy was being daddy to Axel, his "turtle".
Matt collected all things Batman. He admired the superhero and tried to live his life to the same standards. It's rumored that Matt was Batman- after all, none of us ever saw them in the same room together.
Matthew will be greatly missed and, remain in our hearts, forever.
Services for Matthew will be on Friday, January 27th, 2023 at the St. John's Club from 4 pm to 8 pm. Located at: 9 Central Ave Burlington, Vt 05401 with Pastor Jim Wilkens of the Essex Alliance Church.
