He was born in Fairmont, WV on December 10, 1963.
A resident of Maidsville, Matt dedicated many years of his life to PACE Industries, where he served as a supervisor. He enjoyed being outdoors and would cut firewood nearly everyday. He also spent a lot time fishing and hunting.
He had a knack for cooking that made him popular at family reunions and neighborhood potlucks. He genuinely adored his loved ones and enjoyed spending time with his neighbors, always ready with a helping hand or a kind word.
Matt is survived by his sons, Eric Yerkovich and his wife Vanessa, and Ryan Yerkovich and his companion Abigail Porterfield; his daughter, Amanda DeHart-Thomas and her husband Devon; his siblings, Raymond Yerkovich, Jr., Tillie McDougal, Roy Yerkovich, Tina Fultz, and Bryan Yerkovich and his wife Barbara; his granddaughters, Abigayle DeHart, Rylee Younkins, and Arya Yerkovich; his grandson, Tyrion Yerkovich; his former spouse, Diane Yerkovich; and his beloved dog, Gidget.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Yerkovich.
Family and friends may join to honor Matt's life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover (304-292-9494) on Wednesday, May 14th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Following the visitation, Matt's request for cremation will be honored by his family through SFCC Crematory.
