Matthew Yoder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Darst Funeral Home on Jan. 20, 2026.
Matthew Daniel Yoder, 44, of Atascocita, Texas, passed away on January 2, 2026. Born on July 17, 1981, Matthew was known for his vibrant personality and generous spirit. He was the life of the party and had an unwavering love for football, particularly the Texans.
Matthew attended Antwerp International School and LaPorte High School. He furthered his studies at San Jacinto College where he met his wife. Matthew finished his education with a double major in Accounting and Finance from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
His caring and outgoing nature left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His love for animals was evident in the multiple rescue dogs that Matthew owned over the years and the many stray dogs that he helped reunite with their family. Matthew lived for football season and was known to be a part of and help run many fantasy football teams. Matthew was also a huge foodie; he loved to cook, smoke, and grill, and was the go-to guy if someone was looking for a new restaurant to try. Matthew was always smiling and we could always count on him to have a sarcastic comment, joke, or movie quote for every situation. His strong faith in God only strengthened as he fought through his illness. His faith was so admirable to witness and is a true testament to how our Lord comforts and carries us through our highs and lows.
He is survived by his loving wife, Angela Yoder; children, Gavin and Lylah Yoder; mother, Leslie Yoder; father, Daniel Yoder; stepmother, Cheryl Yoder; siblings, Christopher Yoder (Charyell), Andrew Yoder (Dana), Nicholas Ramirez, and Kristen New (Alvie Busby); sister-in-law, Melissa Buckalew; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Joanne Serr, Dr. Nelson Yoder and Ann Yoder, and his sister, Candace Hawkins. Matthew leaves behind many friends, along with many amazing coworkers at Vitol Inc. where he was employed for nearly 20 years.
A service to celebrate Matthew's life will be held at Atascocita Community Church, 17271 W. Lake Houston Parkway, Humble, TX 77346, on January 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Matthew may be made to Camp H-Town,(https://camphtown.org) a cause close to his heart. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the joy he brought to his family and friends.
