It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mattie Ellen Arnold, 73, of Paragould, Arkansas, who departed this life on October 1, 2025. Born on October 29, 1951, in Holcomb, Missouri, she was a devoted daughter, loving mother, cherished sister, and proud grandmother.
Mattie's faith played a central role in her life; her Pentecostal beliefs were a guiding light. She found great joy in attending her home church, New Life Christian Center in Rector, where she relished in the passionate sermons and uplifting music. Her Bible was a constant companion, reflecting her deep spiritual commitment and love for her faith.
Mattie dedicated much of her life to nurturing others as a nurse, serving with compassion and care in various nursing homes throughout her career. She took pride in her vocation and made a profound impact on the lives of those she cared for. After her retirement, she enjoyed the tranquility of quiet times at home, where she continued to spread warmth through her beloved pastime of knitting, crafting beautiful blankets for her grandchildren.
Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Arnold; father, James Crayne, Sr; mother, Minnie Crayne; daughter, Angela Beauregard; and sisters, Pauline Westenburger, Ethel Wheeling, Bertha Gilpin, Helen Woodall, Aline Nice, Sue Taylor, and Jean Hershburger.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Tammy (Ira) Doherty; her son, Wade (Jessica) Herring; her sisters, Jerrie (Ronnie) Treat and Shirley Hensley; her brother, James (Barb) Crayne, Jr.; and her former son-in-law, Robert Case.
