Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral HomeA funeral service for Mattie Wickham, 92, of Cleburne, will be held at Nolan River Road Baptist Church in Cleburne, Texas, on August 30, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, with interment following in Greenacres Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marte Amrine, Sr., Marte Amrine, Jr., Matthew Amrine, Coby Quisenberry, Gary Shaw, and Rickey Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Brister, Kolin Korell, and Kody Korell. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her memory and celebrating the wonderful life she led.
Mattie Wickham, beloved second-grade teacher, devoted family member, and cherished friend, passed away on August 25, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on December 6, 1932, in Dennis, Texas, to Claborne Kenneth and Leslie Lamoine (Parks) Combs.
As an educator, Mattie dedicated her career to nurturing the minds and hearts of her young students. Her commitment to teaching went beyond the classroom; she was actively involved in the Teachers' Retirement Service, reflecting her dedication to her colleagues and the profession she cherished.
Mattie's devotion extended beyond her professional life into her personal interests. She loved reading, engaging in crafts, and participating in many hours of volunteer work. Her passion for helping others was evident, as she invested her time and energy into her community. She was very active in her church, Nolan River Road Baptist Church, where her spirit and enthusiasm enriched the lives of those around her. Mattie and her husband, Benny, enjoyed traveling and eating out with their best friends, Curtis and Barbara Brister.
She is survived by her son, Stan Wickham, daughter, Sheila Hamilton, grandchildren, Kolin Korell and Kody Korell, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mattie was predeceased by her husband, Benny A. Wickham, her parents, C.K. and Lamoine Combs, and her sister, Billie Amrine.
