Maura Schneider Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maura Ellen Schneider on January 2, 2025 in Memphis, Tennessee. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, she spent the majority of her life in Memphis. She graduated from White Station High School and attended college at Lincoln College in Illinois and the University of Tennessee-Martin.

After college, she returned to Memphis and worked as a nursing assistant at the former Doctor's Hospital. She was then employed for many years at National Mortgage Company, where she was known for her dedication and ready smile. She was deeply active in the Jewish community and a dedicated member of Baron Hirsch Synagogue where she contributed time and energy to numerous senior luncheons and other events. Ellen enjoyed and was an active participant in group activities sponsored by Fogelman Jewish Family Services of Memphis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rita and David Schneider, whose memory she cherished deeply. She is survived by her devoted sister, Francie Schneider, and her brother Michael (Barbara) Schneider, niece, nephew, dear friend Lovette and many cousins. Ellen's friends and family will always remember her for her kind and gentle nature.

The family requests donations in Ellen's memory be sent to Baron Hirsch Synagogue or Fogelman Jewish Family Services at the Memphis Jewish Community Center.
