Maureen Helen Hogan Barnes, 79, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, surrounded by her family, after a challenging period of illness.
Maureen was born in
Brooklyn, NY on April 5, 1946. She was born to the late Daniel Edward Hogan and Anne Wallace Hogan. Maureen's family moved to Franklin, Pennsylvania during her childhood years. After graduating high school in Franklin, she attended college in Cleveland, Ohio where she met her husband. She and Timothy were married on October 12, 1968. They lived in the Cleveland area for many years, a couple of years in West Bloomfield, Michigan, and finally
Jamestown, North Carolina. Timothy passed away in 1992.
Maureen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved gardening, walking, and reading. Maureen worked as a bookkeeper after her sons finished elementary school. Maureen loved watching sports including her sons' basketball and soccer games. She loved bowling and participated in leagues in Ohio, Michigan, and North Carolina where she developed many friendships. She was a frequent volunteer at her children's schools and with their sports teams. Maureen appreciated the simple things in life and was always there to listen and cheerfully did so.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Timothy William Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dennis John Hogan, who passed away in October 2025.
She is survived by her three sons, Michael William Barnes of Greensboro, Brian Richard Barnes of Charlotte, and Scott Edward Barnes of Roswell, GA, grandsons Timothy Vincent Barnes and Nicholas Rowan Barnes of Roswell, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service in
High Point, NC. The family will also hold a brief gathering at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church prior to the Mass.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 11:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point. Burial will be at Guilford Memorial Park following the Funeral Mass.
