It is with heavy hearts and abiding love that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Maureen Byrne Fahy, who slipped from this world peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the age of seventy-five, surrounded by family.
Born on May 5, 1950, in West Orange, NJ, Maureen carried the Irish spirit in her bones—its strength, its wit, and its boundless warmth. She moved through life with a kindness that lingered, a laugh that lifted spirits, and a quiet bravery that steadied all who loved her.
Maureen leaves behind her husband, Joseph Thomas Fahy; her children Jessica Farrell and her husband, Brian, of Lido Beach, NY, and Patrick Fahy and his wife, Stephenie, of Mebane, NC; her brothers Eamon Byrne and Kevin Byrne; and her sister-in-law Maura Byrne. Her five grandchildren, Jack, Ryan, and Liam Farrell, and Everett and Tyler Fahy were her greatest joy. She cherished her role as Godmother to Brian Bennett, Corinne Byrne Opdyke, Jeffrey Halligan, and KJ Booth. She is reunited now with her parents, Martin and Kathleen Byrne, and her sister-in-law Barbara Ann Fahy who predeceased her.
Our mother was the heart of our family. She taught us to work hard, to take care of others and to find joy in life’s simple blessings such as Bruce Springsteen echoing through the house, her favorite shrimp scampi or eggplant parm shared around the table, and a warm café latte.
Maureen earned her master’s degree from St. Elizabeth’s University and later dedicated her career to the State of North Carolina’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, where she was a compassionate advocate for those in need. To friends and neighbors, she was a trusted confidante; to family, she was home.
Her life was a tapestry of generosity, wit, faith, and unwavering love. Those who knew her will remember her laughter, her stories, and her gentle wisdom. May her memory be a blessing and her spirit a steady companion on the road ahead.
A Mass will be held on December 13, 2025 at 10:30 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes in West Orange, NJ to celebrate her life, share her stories, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
“May the road rise to meet her,
May the wind be always at her back, And until we see her again, May God hold her in the hollow of His hand.”
