Maureen K. Haas (Fillbach), age 68 of Highland, peacefully passed away on October 5, 2025, after battles with multiple health conditions at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on September 5, 1957, in Dodgeville, the youngest child of John P. and Patricia Fillbach.
Maureen was a quite child, but she loved making mud pies while surrounded by the cats that she trained, and her favorite farm dog, Charlie, who used to always ride in the truck. She also developed a strong love of reading that followed her into adulthood. She enjoyed a variety of activities including: cooking, gardening, crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, games, crocheting, embroidery, and shopping for a good bargain.
Maureen's pride and joy were her sons, John and Ryan. She was a wonderful mother, always making sure their needs and wants were met before her own. She also passed on some of her favorite activities onto her sons, specifically reading and gardening.
Her presence and giggle will be missed by those who loved her.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents and 20 aunts and uncles.
Maureen is survived by husband Ken Haas, her sons John and Ryan Haas, siblings: Patrick (Jolee) Fillback and Sheila (Pat) Dischler; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; other family; her best friends Carole Fedie and Deb Korb, and other friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church, Highland. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am at the church. Burial will commence at St. Philip Cemetery following Mass. The McGuire-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home is assisting the family.
