Eileen Stenzel and George Kuehn
February 21, 2025
Maureen has been a beloved member of our family since Julie, Bill and I were kids. We grew up with Maureen and Bud as a given at any family gathering.
Life goes on. Julie and Bill stayed rooted in the Chicago area. I moved a lot. When our dad, Fred, died in July of 2006, mom was nearing the end of her life. Her vision had been impaired by a stroke. She was with us at dad's wake which was attended by so many of Julie and Bill's friends who were unknown to me. I was torn between keeping a watchful eye on mom and meeting and greeting people with the grace and gratitude just as mom would do. And then I looked over at mom and there was Maureen who saw the need. She pulled a chair up in back of mom. As folks came to offer their sympathy Maureen would either tell mom who they were it or quietly ask them who they were and then whisper their names to mom who could then graciously acknowledge them by name and thank them, "for coming to us".
Maureen had a way of listening with her eyes and hearing with her heart that was a gift to all of us. You, her family will miss her forever bus that legacy will live be yours to honor forever. What a gift!
In gratitude an sympathy,
Eileen Stenzel and George Kuehn
