Maureen Mena, age 82, passed away at home on Friday, September 12, 2025. Maureen was born in Bluefields, Nicaragua to Frank Mena and Charlotte Beer Mena on April 25, 1943. Maureen was the youngest of their 8 children. The family moved to Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua in her pre-teen years. In Puerto Cabezas, Maureen was able to enjoy a life of going to the beach and riding her horse. As a young adult, the family moved to Managua. Maureen started working at The InterContinental Hotel. At the InterContinental, she was able to meet such dignitaries as Howard Hughes. In 1980, Maureen left her homeland to start a new life in Miami with her sisters and mother. She remained in Miami until her death. She was predeceased in death by her parents and her siblings (Willoughby, Vilma, Lenword, Lydia, Marcia, Marvin, and Sorelle). She is survived by many nephews, nieces, grand - nephews and nieces, cousins, and loved ones. A viewing will be held at San Jose -Ferdinand (250 E 4th Ave, Hialeah, FL 33014) on Oct 2, 2025, from 5p-11p. A funeral service will be held at Santa Cruz Resurrection Episcopal Church (11173 Griffing Blvd, Biscayne Park, FL 33161) on Oct 3 at 12pm. The interment will be at Southern Memorial Park at 2pm (15000 W Dixie Hwy, Miami, FL 33181) after the funeral service.
