Maureen Eloise Sheets

Maureen Eloise Sheets, 81, of Rockford died peacefully Sunday, February 23, 2025. She was born on May 24, 1943 in Rockford, the daughter of William A. & Olive A. (Knudson) Collins. She graduated from Rockford East High School class of 1961. She then received her Cosmetology license before marriage. Maureen married Charles Sheets on November 16, 1963 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rockford. Maureen had a love and aptitude for art which she channeled into a 46 year career as a sign painter first at Sjostrom Signs and then opening her own sign painting business. She painted semi tractors, trailers and race cars along with the usual door, window and building signs. With her love for thrifting and antiquing in her retirement years she later worked for Hidden Treasures Estate Sales. She also enjoyed boating, fishing, and dancing with her husband of 61 years. Maureen was a member of The Navy Club of Rockford, The Harmony Club, and Greater Rockford Doll & Bear Club.
Maureen is survived by her husband, Chuck; children, Peggy (Philippe) Savio of Tucson, AZ and Alan Sheets of Albuquerque, NM; and grandchildren, Alexandra Savio (Cesar Gutierrez) Tucson, AZ, Andrea Savio of Tucson, AZ, and Austin (Cybele) Sheets of Albuquerque, NM; and great-grandchildren, Olive Gutierrez-Savio of Tucson, AZ and Charles "Charlie" Sheets of Albuquerque, NM. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Audrey (Gerald) Cole.
