Maureen Vierra

Maureen (McHugh) Vierra, of Hanover, MA, formerly of Barrington and Portsmouth, RI, died unexpectedly surrounded by her loving family on September 21, 2025 at the age of 87.

Maureen graduated from Rhode Island College with both a bachelor's and master's degree in Education and dedicated her career to helping students with learning disabilities. Her career was challenging but she always found time to be an amazing and adoring wife and mother.

Most importantly, Maureen was a woman of deep Catholic faith which she passed to her children and grandchildren.

In the last few years, Maureen dedicated her life to lovingly caring for the love of her life, her beloved husband Roger, who predeceased her this past June. Her devotion to family was strong so it didn't take much to convince her husband to move from Portsmouth, RI to Hanover twenty-five years ago to be near their sons and grandchildren. They spent many of those years traveling all over New England to watch them play sports.

She is also survived by her sons Roger (Maryann) and Scott (Lisa) both of Norwell. Her greatest joy came as Mimi to her 5 grandchildren Erin, Darci, Amanda, Scott Jr. and Kristi and 3 great grandchildren Luke, Shea & Emerson.

Those who knew Maureen will always remember her for her beautiful sense of style, her willingness to help everyone, her devotion to family and friends and her trust in Jesus.

Visiting hours will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. Rte. 53, Hanover on Thursday September 25th 8:30-10:30am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11am at Our Lady of the Angels Parish - St Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Rte. 139, Hanover.
