Maurice Gamble was born in Hope, Arkansas on July 12, 1933, to Booker T Gamble and Onita Gamble. He was raised by his aunts after his mom's passing and his dad was enlisted in the military. This is where he learned to be spoiled and loved. He never skipped a beat on enjoying life or feeling neglected. This is also due to who he has always been. After his dad's return from the military, Maurice moved to Tulare with his dad and new bonus mom "Gladys. This was a union that was always meant to be because they both complimented each other's life.
Gladys loved being his mom and Maurice loved her being his mom.
He went to Tulare Union High and graduated in 1953. After this he joined the Air Force. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1958. He met Elizabeth Gamble in 1959, they wed and then they welcomed their baby girl Terri Gamble.
Now Maurice was able to share the love that he was taught from all his beautiful Aunties and Bonus Mom and give it to his family. The union between Maurice and Elizabeth lasted until 1970 and they divorced. However, till this day, they had the utmost respect for one another's lives and just wanted the best for their daughter.
Maurice met Verdell Gamble and married her in 1971. They lived a beautiful life together until her passing in 2018. Their lives were full of children, grandchildren and a multitude of other relatives. With Maurice having such a loving heart, this came easily to him. If you knew Maurice, you knew next to God, family was to be cherished and enjoyed. Family to him didn't mean you had to be blood related, it meant we love each other. So, you can imagine how big his family grew to be.
Maurice worked rebuilding engines for Green Motor Parts from 1958-1959. After this the Post
Office got blessed with his presence from 1963-1994. This is where he retired from.
Maurice had a passion for detailing cars. You knew your car was in good hands if you were able to get him to detail it. He would spend many days and nights just enjoying his past time.
He loved restoring old cars.
He was such a social person. Whenever he was out, he was always talking with the community and checking up on everyone. You knew his smile was genuine and contagious. If he was smiling, everyone around him was smiling.
He enjoyed living a Christian life and found great joy in that lifestyle. He was always going to church. He was going even if it meant he was going by himself. He went until he was no longer able to attend due to his health. He was well loved amongst the church community.
Wherever Maurice is at, its always a better place.
Maurice passed peacefully the morning of June 6th, 2025, after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded by loving family members and caregivers. When God called him home, he gained a true soldier in Christ. We all know he was welcomed by all his loved ones in Heaven.
We can just imagine how excited they all were to see one another.
Proceeding his death was his beloved wife Verdell, his father Booker T Gamble, his mother Onita and Bonus mom Gladys. Left to cherish his memories is his daughter Terri, his Grandson Terrance Gamble, his cousins - Valencia Harris AKA Limpy, Craig Harris, Darnell Gamble, Hattie Gamble, Brenda Gamble. Also, his younger cousins, and a long list of friends and family.
