Maurice Cottrell Pearl, affectionately known as "Moe-P," was born September 14, 1970, to the late Oswald M. Pearl and Bishop Thelma L. Pearl in Baton Rouge, LA.

Maurice confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age. Maurice rededicated his life and was later re-baptized September 15, 2019, by his twin brother, Bishop Michael C. Pearl, Sr., at Disciples Outreach Ministry in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While attending Glen Oaks Senior High School, he developed his love for music.

Maurice played and sang for churches across the country and was a member of Baton Rouge R&B group 3rd Avenue, signed to SOLAR Records from 1990 to 1993. In 2002, Maurice created his own record label, MoSound Records, and recorded his first album, "Lost Inside." In 2004, Maurice owned Power 94.9 WTQT FM radio station and pursued a career in producing and composing music for several artists across the country, such as Faith Evans, Al B. Sure, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Heavy D, Youngbloodz, Crunchy Black of 36 Mafia, Mr. Magic, Flavor Flav, and many more. He was also a ghost writer for Universal Records. From 2010 to 2012, he was the owner of MarluRestaurant & Tavern and Club 320 in Las Vegas, NV. In 2024, leading up to the progression of Maurice's battle with multiple sclerosis, he collaborated with Universal Records to release his new album, "Moe-P." This work was released on March 14, 2025.

In his spare time, Maurice enjoyed cooking, playing golf, and spades. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was always the life of the party.

Maurice transitioned from earth to glory on September 14, 2025, at the Crossing Hospice Facility of Baton Rouge, LA, at 10:18 p.m. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his three children: Jolie Pearl (Las Vegas, NV), Ezra Pearl (Baton Rouge, LA), and Cherish Pearl (Las Vegas, NV); a loving mother, Bishop Thelma Pearl; three sisters: Darlene Munson (Larry), Penny Pearl-Scott, and Rita Gail Fluker-Palmer; three brothers: Charles Pearl (Jill), Michael Pearl, Sr. (Shantell), and Marcus Pearl (Zanele "Gugu"), one bonus brother, Jason Rucker, and a host of family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beautiful Victoria Pearl; his father, Oswald Pearl; his brother, Oswald M. Pearl, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Mamie Hayes and Perry Hayes; paternal grandparents, Elnora Pearl and Robert Pearl; and one bonus sister, Deborah Robinson.
