Maurine Ann Woods Phillips Spires, beloved family matriarch, mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother, peacefully left this world to meet our Lord and Savior on November 29, 2024.

Ann was born in Pleasant Hill, LA on July 17, 1935, to her parents, Marcel Mumford Woods and Cena Elizabeth Woods. She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School. After a career at Western Electric in Shreveport, LA, Ann attended LSUS where she studied to become a Louisiana Certified Paralegal.

Ann enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life! She loved getting together weekly with her special group of friends to play cards and dominoes. She loved watching her LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints play football. Other hobbies included gardening, fishing and traveling. She was a proud member of Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron at the Rosepine, LA Chapter. Ann enjoyed her volunteer work at Beauregard General Hospital for many years.

Ann was a longtime faithful member of Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport prior to moving to DeRidder, LA. She joined First Baptist Church in DeRidder where she loved singing in the choir and studying the word with her sweet Sunday School Class. Following her husband Dale’s death and failing health, she relocated back to Shreveport where she rejoined Summer Grove Baptist Church. Although home bound in recent years, Ann always enjoyed a full morning of local church services every Sunday.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elizabeth Woods Litton; brother, Lawrence Woods; and husbands, Frank Phillips and Dale Spires. Left to cherish her memory are her loving sons, Tom Peterson (Terri), Randy Phillips (Linda); grandchildren, Laurie Peterson Breaux Stone (Tim), Trey Peterson, Brittany Phillips Filiano (Dylan), great- grandchildren, Tommy Breaux, Cameron Filiano and Averie Filiano. Ann is also survived by her long-time dear friend, Sandy Rogers, of DeRidder, LA.

Honoring Maurine as pallbearers will be Chris Jones, Bobby Phillips Jr., Kyle Caldwell, Eddie Breaux, Tommy Breaux and Tim Stone. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Terry Watson.

A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport, LA. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at Rose-Neath. Interment will follow at Springridge Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Billy Crosby.

The family would like to thank Dr. Cody Tingle and the attending ISH nursing staff at Willis-Knighton Pierremont Hospital and Janice for their care and commitment to Ann.
